ISIS mobile wallet set to launch in September, according to VeriFone CEO
The ISIS mobile payment solution has been a long time coming, but it appears to be ready for a September launch after months of uncertainty. Bloomberg spoke with VeriFone CEO Doug Bergeron, who confirmed plans for an introduction in Salt Lake City and Austin, TX next month. VeriFone is working with ISIS on the project to provide payment terminals, so Bergeron would likely have a good idea as to what's coming. Concrete details are stil minimal at this point, however — an ISIS spokesperson declined to elaborate beyond saying that an introduction would come this summer, and both AT&T and Verizon declined to offer up any details from the carrier perspective.
However, it was only a few weeks ago that all four major US carriers joined up with ISIS and Google to form the Mobile Payments Committee, so we're hoping to see all these carriers take part in the ISIS launch. As there's only a few weeks left in the summer, ISIS would almost certainly have to launch in September to make that timeframe — but the company has pushed things back in the past, and it wouldn't surprise us to see it happen again.
