Google Maps for Android gets better for cyclists with turn-by-turn bike navigation
Google Maps is getting some new features for cyclists as the company crosses the 500,000 kilometer milestone (actually 530,000; about 330,000 miles) for cycling routes (dedicated bike trails and bike-friendly roadways) in its system. The changes add mobile biking directions in Google Maps for Android in the 10 countries where Google launched desktop biking directions last month, as well as hill-averse turn-by-turn biking navigation (with voice) in every country with biking directions. For those looking to stick their phones on their handlebars and give it a try, cycling directions and turn-by-turn navigation are now available in the following countries:
- Austria
- Australia
- Belgium
- Canada
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Liechtenstein
- Luxembourg
- Monaco
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- United Kingdom
- United States
