Have you ever saved a gamer from their games?
I'm not a hardcore gamer but I do have or have owned most consoles and love them all. I enjoy the classics and the big name titles. (Zeldas, Marios, Halo, Mass Effects, Assassin's Creeds, Portals, Final Fantasys, you get the idea)
So my cousin moved back home from college this past summer and I noticed that he played games on the ps2. Looking through his games I noticed a serious problem, he only had racing and fps shooter games. I was like "Dude, what games do you play?" and he said "Mostly Red Faction and CoD, I'm thinking about getting the Modern Warfares and Black Ops." I got that feeling of someone you know bought a car from someone else and you know the original owner ragged the hell out of it and the buyer thinks it's the best car ever but you can't really say it's a pos.
So I thought I would help him out some. I told him to try out Shadow of the Colossus and FF10 to try and steer him away some, and he thought they were ok, maybe not his thing.
He wanted to play the Halo games so he bought a 360. He played the Halos, beat them and the Gears of War. I'm slowly talking him away from shooters and racers. Then I tell him to try a "shooter" called Portal 2. He was hooked. Then came Mass Effect, he played them all twice. Then Assassin's Creed, he beat them all. Last night he asked if I had anything else I could recommend so I said to try Skyrim. He has been playing it non-stop.
Feels like I saved a lost soul. Anybody else have any similar stories?
P.S.
Sorry for the short novel, just felt like sharing.
