Why is the search field so utterly useless?

Why can't i find articles/stories on the search menu?

Example:

This article, if i google it, i find it immediately:

http://www.theverge.com/2012/8/29/3277764/google-hires-barclays-sell-motorola-mobility-stb-business

If searching:

http://www.theverge.com/search?q=Google+hiring+firm+to+sell+Motorola+Mobility%27s+cable-box+business%2C+says+Bloomberg

(and for those wondering, i tried with the article's own title, but if i try with any other apparently "unique" words, same thing, like Motorola Mobility, or Bloomberg)

Any ideas?
