Windows 8/9 File Explorer Concept
First, I should start by saying that I like Windows 8. I've been using it since the Developer Preview, and I'm happy with the new features that Microsoft has implemented. However, one thing that I would like to see changed is the desktop.
My work is nowhere near as good as Sputnik8 or YKWWBC, but I still wanted to share it here to see what people think of it. I didn't have enough time to redesign the entire desktop, so instead I've made a concept for an updated file explorer. Rather than completely changing the layout, I've more or less just updated the look.

I also tried to simplify the ribbon, with metro (or should I say, 'Windows 8 Style UI') looking icons.

As you can see, the window is transparent. But, it also looks fine without transparency. The colour of the windows would obviously be customizable, as well.
I should also mention that a lot of the icons that I used are modified versions of the icons found here.

EDIT: As Xtr33m3 and arch3r suggested, I removed the border and transparency.
