Unified Search ...... Definition

Since the start of the Galaxy Nexus case I've been wodering what the true meaning of unified (or universal) search means. It says at some sites that it means you can search on multiple search engines for your query and get feedback for them at one place. This is quite clear but I have two confusions.

1. Are voice actions included in the term "search"? In my view (If it's wrong please point out), search is somewhere you actually look in a database for something, but is turning on wifi or turning off bluetooth considered "search"?

2. If Google do cut off unified search in future Android phones, will I be able to search for things individually? I mean since "unified" is the focus, I should still be able to open contact search (only) while in contacts or text search (only) while in messages so I don't have to scroll past all of them...

Hope anyone with background knowledge can help me out...

Or if anyone knows for sure that Google will not cancel the feature (althought quite impossible)...
