Looking for business partner-consumer technology retail
Greetings,
I am looking for a business partner with a background in IT or Computer Science. Specifically, in the Washington, DC, Arlington, VA or Alexandria, VA area.
Quick background about me: I recently completed graduate school and am looking to venture into private business. I have a PhD in Neuroscience and a Masters in Public Affairs from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This may sound like an odd combo to be interested in technology retail, but I have always had a passion for this area. I also think that it is unwise to put all of your interests into one career choice. A variety of economic investments is always a wise plan. And in my mind there is a place in the market for the type of consumer technology retail that I am proposing.
My business plan: I am not going to give a detailed over view of my plan here. However, the main philosophy of my business plan is a belief that consumers are looking for trust in the retail market. They want to buy a product from a company or retailer that stands behind their products. The current consumer market is an avalanche of choices that consumers are expected to dig through to find the right one. But what if someone did the digging for you? Found the products with the best reviews and checked the right boxes for the most important aspects of that product. Wouldn't a consumer appreciate that kind of customer service? I think so.
I think of my own technology purchases and how I wished for a brick and mortar technology store that I could walk into and be overwhelmed with a sense of quality products at reasonable prices. Apple has a similar approach to this market, but I do not think they have completely cornered this market yet. Plus I think many consumers are interested in windows, android, chrome os, and maybe even linux, but they need help navigating the numerous options.
If you are tech savy, creative, and wanting to start a business, but do not want to handle the "business" side of things, then I am your man. I actually enjoy going over paperwork, organizing, and making contacts. I know I am weird, but it has its advantages.
