The Reason I've Never Liked Steam
So I was having this conversation with some friends the other night about why I chose not to use Steam and purchase my games from direct sources.
My argument was that when you buy a game it comes with that companies form of DRM which is slightly annoying depending on which company. This is already one put off about PC games, annoying DRM. But this is where I dislike Steam, they add their own DRM on top of that.
So I understood this as if I bought a game through Steam, I was essentially buying a game double DRM encrypted or what ever it is meaning that for the rest of my life, I must go through Steam to play this game and put up with the games native DRM as well.
What my friends went on to tell me was that I was wrong. You only need Steam to download/install the games and after that you can play these games without Steam forever.
Is this true? Has my ignorance made me miss out of awesome sales for the past five years?
