I'm in a Catch-22 with Comcast
For the last 3 months, I have paid $80 after tax per month for my broadband internet, and local channels.
The local channels are $20/month. I wanted to opt out of that, but then Comcast said my internet pricing would increase.
They had offers (for current customers) for lower internet prices for 6months, but those were only available to COMCAST customers who have TV but no internet. Who the hell DOESN'T have internet in 2012?
I could spend $20 more per month to get cable, but then it's a snowball effect. $10/month extra for sports package. $10/month extra for HD channels. $16 extra for HD DVR. The $80/month "offer" turns into $130/month + tax.
Why is this?
Why can't we get flat broadband internet for $35-$50/month?
I want to get fiber optic, but Verizon FiOS and AT&T U-Verse are not available in my area. I live in Sacramento, California. I refuse to get DSL or Satellite.
Are you in a similar situation?
Google Fiber? Why aren't you here... :(
