"Media consumption" tablets without media subscriptions – yes or no?
I'm looking to replace my iPad 2 for something smaller, and both Kindle Fire HD 7" and Nexus 7 seem tempting. I live in Sweden where we don't have access to streaming services like Amazon Prime, Google Play or even Netflix. Jeff Bezos said something that caught my attention:
"Customers are smart. Last year, there were more than two dozen Android tablets launched into the marketplace, and nobody bought ‘em. Why? Because they’re gadgets, and people don’t want gadgets anymore. They want services that improve over time. They want services that improve every day, every week, and every month."
– Jeff Bezos at Amazon's September 6th Kindle event
Is this the ultimate answer to why I shouldn't replace my iPad 2 just yet? Would you use your Kindle Fire or Nexus 7 as much if you didn't have access to Prime or Play?
