quick question about preordering

so i bought my 4s last year around thanksgiving from at&t, 2 year contract. will i be able to pre order the iphone 5 through apple? how does it work with the two stores like that? does the 2 year contract start over? i understand that it will be the full $200 but i need help understanding this whole process for me. thanks!
