Hello folks,

If you didn't notice there has been a gratuitous amount of Wii U news released today via Nintendo for all regions across the globe. Release dates, prices, launch titles - just about everything has been covered. Like most new Nintendo products the Wii U is already being ridiculed as a "gimmick" and labeled as "stupidly overpriced". This always happens. It happened with the Wii and it happened with the 3DS. I'm personally really happy with everything that has been announced about the Wii U so far. Here's why I think the Wii U is going to be a great system.

HD - I know. I know. The PS4 and Xbox 720 are probably going to have graphics processors so powerful that they'll blow the Wii U out of the water, but who cares? Are we really that much of graphics whores that we want EVERY game to be the pinnacle of high definition gaming? Super Mario World. Final Fantasy VII. Banjo-Kazooie. Remember how much people love/loved those games? They're graphics look terrible by today's standards, but that doesn't make them bad games. A systems graphical capacity is not it's defining feature - it's games are. We haven't even had any Nintendo titles in HD yet (aside from the Dolphin emulator). I'm just excited to see HD graphics on a Nintendo console. I don't care how "HD" they are.

Controllers - Yes, the touch screen controller is weird, but I can tell you that it works surprising well when done right. playing games like Rayman Legends, Zombie U and Nintendo Land at E3 convinced me that the built in screen can make a gaming experience more unique. That being said some time you just want to stick with the basics, which is where the Pro controller comes in. Also got to hands on that bad boy, it feels great and controls amazing. Just like the Wii before, the Wii U has TONS of potential in the controls department.

Games - This one is simple. No other home console is going to have the first party titles the Wii U will. I love playing Nintendo games, so why wouldn't I be excited about a whole new platform for me to do just that? When it comes down to it the reason I always stick with Nintendo is their gaming catalog. If you think those games are for babies and find no interest in them, that's absolutely fine. We like what we like. Just don't bash the Wii U because it's doesn't cater to your tastes. I don't like many game on the 360, but I still think it's a wonderful console for those who like to play FPS, Sports, and MS exclusives.

So there's my opinion. I'm currently waiting for the Wii U preorders to go on sale on Amazon so I can snag the $350 bundle. The Wii U is going to be a great system. Sure it will have it's faults, but in the end i know it will be another solid entry in my Nintendo console library.
