Worms: Armageddon finally on Steam!
There is a catch tho, it's only available in a bundle with some other random game no one cares about for $14.99.
...Okay, I'm being a bit harsh there. The truth is, if you pre-purchase Worms:Revolution, Team17's brand new, 2.5D Worms game, you get a copy of Worms:Armageddon, originally released back in 1999, and arguably the best game in the series so far.
Granted, I have not played Worms: Revolution yet, but I have very little reason to be excited considering the quality of their latest outputs. I suppose I shouldn't judge before playing it, and they are actually trying to do new things this time around... it's just that I've been burned badly before.
Nevertheless, I can't recommend Worms:Armageddon enough. One of the things that makes the game special is that it has been continuously(if slowly) updated up to this very day by a guy that goes by the name Deadcode, who despite not being actually part of the staff, was given the source code and T17's blessing to keep working on it. Since then, he's been joined by another guy by the name of Cybershadow, and they've fixed a lot of bugs, improved the game's performance, and added a lot of awesome features.
Currently, there's no way to get the game by itself on steam. It's touted as a "limited time offer" and there is a possibility it'll never see a stand-alone release on the platform, which would be a huge crime against humanity. So I recommend acting now if you're interested. You also get their new game which might or might not be actually good, who knows.
And hey, if enough people here get it, maybe we can get a Polygon W:A tournament going? :D
