A6 Dual-Core or Quad-Core

I want to preface by saying - Yes I know it really doesn't matter, because its going to run awesome regardless, but strictly out of geek curiosity, which will it be? The only thing I could find that I thought was a reputable source was Verizon.

If it is dual-core whats the difference between the A6 and the A5x? Supposedly they'd both have dual core cpus with quad-core gpus.
