What if Google and Amazon take the same approach to phones...

as they have their tablets.

We know that neither Google or Amazon turn any particular profit on the Nexus 7 or the Fire range of tablets. They have brought pretty decent hardware to consumers at incredibly affordable prices, hoping to make their money through services and content.

We know think there is an Amazon phone on the way, and there is no reason not to believe that they may release the phone at cost, and use their eco-system to build out profit.

Google already released the Nexus 7 to counter Amazon. What if the next Nexus phone is released at cost? $200-$250 off contract (£200ish for the more refined side of the pond).

That would finally be the game changing move that Google could make to kick-start the Nexus brand.
