Google just announced that it has signed a new content agreement with Twentieth Century Fox that will bring many of the studio's most popular TV shows and movies to Google Play and YouTube. In total, over 600 titles will be added to Google's digital storefront as part of the deal. Family Guy, Glee, Modern Family, and New Girl are cited among the TV pickups, with X-Men, Ice Age and Black Swan mentioned as some of the many incoming movie selections.

Ridley Scott fans should also be pleased, however, as the company is today offering Prometheus for purchase in high definition — three weeks ahead of its scheduled Blu-ray/DVD release. Twentieth Century Fox just recently outlined plans to sell "early access" Digital HD downloads of its biggest films, and Google has been named as a partner in that initiative. The blockbuster isn't coming up in our searches just yet, but it should appear at some point today.

As has become the norm, US residents have first dibs on the new content, though Google has pledged to bring its latest catalog additions to other countries as well. You'll be able to rent and purchase the Fox titles "soon."
