Todays header image is brought to you by Cobaltios

It's Saturday September 22th and this is Polynauts Central, at Polygon on The Verge.

It's a bit slap dash today, as someone, who shall remain nameless, forgot to prepare this thread the night before. He is now preparing it at work, which is taking some time. There won't be fancy pants pictures, like what that Shaun does, but that unnamed person is doing their best. What a fool that person must be. But let's not point fingers, it's time for off topic discussion! I'm PaddyStardust, and lets get to verbalising!

  • For comics, manga and anime and if want a nice organised place to talk about those, then head on over to Crisis on Infinite Polygons Issue #6 for chaosbirdomaids all-in-one thread.
  • If you want to talk game related art - or even art in general but be sure to head over to the thread by Paradox Me called The Polygon Gallery of Fine Arts and grab yourself some cheese, olives and a glass of wine.
  • If you want to talk about, or discover new music then Shinta has a thread for you simply called Music.
  • If you want to talk about any movies or television shows with fear of spoilers then go to PrinceLUDA21's Polynauts: The Movie: Episod3-D thread.
  • Zombie711 feels that snacks should have a thread. Won't somebody go talk waffles with him?
  • For all your multiplayer connectivity needs, check out Polynauts Assemble for Steam IDs, gamertags, PSN names and friend codes, by DocSeuss

1: 'FTL: Faster Than Light' review: death at warp speed by Justin McElroy

It's impossible to talk about FTL without mentioning how much it relishes killing you. But dodging barrages of enemy missiles in your little space cruiser isn't the most difficult thing about the game. The real challenge is convincing anyone who hasn't played FTL that it's one of the most thrilling, compulsively playable games of the year.

2: The Besties Podcast XXIX by Justin McElroy

We've returned with the traditional structure you know and love. With Russ Frushtick still in Japan, his spot is once again filled by Chris Grant, Polygon editor-in-chief. With so many great games this week, how will The Besties ever pick their favorite? Well, like they always do of course: With a lot of heart. Also, at random.

3: 'App developers hope to change D&D play through Kickstarter project by Megan Farokhmanesh

The project is a game-like interface specifically for tabletop game Dungeons and Dragons. Spearheaded by Glenn Rane, Alex Gagen, and Marc Hutcheson, the app visualizes characters, maps, and items. Users can also build interactive maps and roll new characters in a matter of minutes, as demonstrated by the app's Kickstarter video.

4: 'Bayonetta 2' would not exist without Nintendo, says Platinum Games by Michael McWhertor

"Would Bayonetta 2 not exist without Nintendo? The answer is yes," says Atsushi Inaba, executive director at Platinum Games. He tells Polygon that Nintendo, the sequel's publisher, was a key partner in getting the game made.

5: '‘Tekken Tag Tournament 2’ Wii U edition will feature previously unlocked DLC characters by Megan Farokhmanesh

Series producer Katsuhiro Harada revealed the DLC unlock at a private Namco Bandai event. According to Joystiq, Harada "feels that it is important for all versions of the game to be in parity with one another" in terms of character availability.

1: The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky - Everything You Love About JRPGs by Revolurt

Do you remember that time when you were playing Final Fantasy VII for the first time, and the opening cutscene just stunned you in a way no other games do? That time when you were playing Dragon Quest, and you just can wait to explore that giant green map with your own party? That time when you were playing Shin Megami Tensei, and you were trying so hard to fuse the demon you want? Do you miss those days? Well, here is a game for ya.

2: Torchlight II - multiplayer on Polygon by Cobaltios

So, Torchlight 2 came out about a day ago, and I have noticed a few people on Steam already have the game. Not much though. However, a lot of you do want it. And this game apparently has some pretty nice multiplayer... except, well, I haven't actually had a chance to try it out :P

3: Polynauts Play: Tekken Tag Tournament 2 by PaddyStardust

It's time.

It's time for grudges.

It's time for beef.

It's time... to enter... THE TEK-KEN!

4: Polynauts Community Features: Beating your personal HYPE TRAIN. by ShaunMcIlroy

What games have you purchased that you eagerly awaited, ate up every bit of drip-fed information from PR and then felt that they were better than you ever expected. Write about your experiences with early trailers, screenshots, interviews and finally gameplay. If you can send me a couple of links to back up what you're talking about that would also be cool.

Today, David Pierce is hosting Fridays '90 Seconds on The Verge'.

Every day there will only be one comment from the previous thread. It's decided based upon the most recommends an individual receives for their comment; should two people have the same rating then both comments will be posted.

Okay, there we have another weekends worth of catch-ups folks. Remember to sound off in the comments below and share any awesome news you find today. As always check out the @Polygon feed on Twitter to keep up to date, or feel free to hit up The Irish Rover at @shaunmcilroy if you want to chitchat throughout the day.

New to the Polygon Community? Please take time to read the Community Guidelines as laid out by the editorial team here at The Verge. Particularly take note here: "Foul language: Cussing, swearing, or just plain nasty: all of the above are not cool here." That goes for NSFW material as well folks - Mods DO police this place remember.
