How much did I get from my $50 investment in PS+?

Exactly one year ago, I decided that it was time to join PS+. I had been waiting for a good offer to join in, and that month they were giving away RE:DC, RE2 and RE3, all games which I intended to buy at some point, and they were also offering a 50% discount on RE4 HD, which I was also planning on buying. That came off at about $32 of total value for me right off the bat, so I figured it was worth paying $50 for a year's subscription. From my point of view, I was paying full price for the aforementioned games, and getting a Plus subscription for $18.

Tomorrow, my subscription expires, and I've decided to round up all the benefits I reaped from that subscription. Included are only full games and discounts. Not included are free DLC(I never even got any free DLC that was useful to me anyway), Avatars, and Themes, because I don't really care about those. I'm separating the games into three categories: Games I didn't really care about(no value), games that I enjoyed/might enjoy at some point but wouldn't have paid anything for(no monetary value), and games that I had interest in and would have payed for(either full or partial price). I'll be giving a monetary value to those, which is basically how much I was willing to pay for each, and use that to calculate exactly how much money I got worth in games from those $50.

-------------------------------------------------------

First, I'll start with the games I didn't really care about. Out of these, I've only tried a few and didn't really like them, and the rest I flat out haven't tried or don't have much interest in trying, either for specific reasons or because I don't know anything about them/haven't bothered looking into them(There may actually be some games in this list that I might enjoy and just don't know it, so feel free to tell me if you think I'm overlooing something awesome... :P):

  • A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks! (MINI)
  • Back to the Future Episode 1-5 (PSN)
  • BloodRayne Betrayal (PSN)
  • Borderlands (PS3) [This one is here because I plan on getting this on PC at some point, so I wouldn't have bought this version]

  • The Walking Dead Episode 1 and 2 (PSN)
  • Tomb Raider: Underworld (PS3)

...

Finally, here's the list of games that I would have paid something for(Some full price, and some are games that I would have impulse-bought if the price was right):

  • Castlevania Chronicles (PS1) - $5.99
  • Castlevania: SotN (PS1) - $9.99

  • Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown (PS3) - $5
  • Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine (PS3) - $5
  • Where is my Heart (MINI) - $6.99

...

And finally, the discounts I took advantage of(not a whole lot :p):

  • Residen Evil 4 (50% discount) -$9.99
  • Sound Shapes (20% Discount) -$3
  • Papo & Yo (20% Discount) -$3
  • Counter Strike: GO (20% Discount) -$3

...

That gives me a total of $208.82 worth of games I could have actually spent, although maybe not all within this year. Still, that's $158.82 of value over the $50 I actually paid. Not bad I guess. Plus, a whole bunch of other games that while I might not have bought otherwise, still provided some entertainment value. :p

Granted, I won't get to keep them. They'll eventually be gone. Maybe in a few years when Sony migrates to a new console, if they don't carry over all this content that is, or maybe in a decade or two if they go bankrupt... maybe even sooner, when the apocalypse hits, who knows. Still got plenty of time to enjoy them tho. :3

-------------------------------------------------------

So there you have it. I got a total of 79 games: 19 PSMinis, 18 PS1 games, 30 PSN games and 12 full PS3 games.

Will I sub again? Definitely. Specially now that Sony is bringing the service to the Vita.

I was originally going to just post this on the Polynauts thread, but the list ended up being a lot larger than I expected, so figured I might as well stick it in it's own thread. :p

And excuse my horrible formatting skills. I really do suck at this. ._.
