  • For comics, manga and anime and if want a nice organised place to talk about those, then head on over to Crisis on Infinite Polygons Issue #6: The Last Polymon for Chaosbirdomages' all-in-one thread.
  • If you want to talk game related art - or even art in general but be sure to head over to the thread by Paradox Me called The Polygon Gallery of Fine Arts and grab yourself some cheese, olives and a glass of wine.
  • If you want to talk about, or discover new music then Shinta has a thread for you simply called Music.
  • If you want to talk about any movies or television shows with fear of spoilers then go to PrinceLUDA21's Polynauts The Movie: Episod3-D thread.
  • Zombie711 feels that snacks should have a thread. Won't somebody go talk waffles with him?

1: 'FTL: Faster Than Light' review: death at warp speed by Justin McElroy

You never know what you're going to encounter in a given playthrough, which is what makes the frequent deaths so palatable. It also helps that each attempt is typically 30 minutes to an hour long, so you're rarely investing enough time to be frustrated by starting over. You learn your lesson, you move on.

My response to seeing my ship explode was rarely to quit out in a rage. No, I'd simply restart — maybe renaming my ship or crewmates to shake off any bad juju — and try to keep in mind the dozen or so ways I knew I could be better the next time out.

2: PlayStation 3 Super Slim out in Australia September 27th starting at $AU299.95 by Tracey Lien

The PlayStation 3 Super Slim announced at Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference this year will go on sale in Australia on September 27th starting at $AU299.95 (approximately $US311 at the time of writing) for the 12GB model and $399.95 (approximately $US415) for the 500GB model.

The console will be available at Australian retailers from this Thursday.

3: 'Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse' reaches Kickstarter funding target with $711,561 raised by Tracey Lien

Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse exceeded its original funding goal of $400,000 by raising $771,561 on Kickstarter from 14,032 backers this weekend.

The extra money helped the developers reach three stretch goals, including the addition of exotic locations in North Africa and the Middle East in the point-and-click adventure, restoring the director's cuttings, and inserting a backer's name and likeness into the game.

4: ‘Tales of Xillia 2’ trailer shows off animated and in-game cinematics by Megan Farokhmanesh

The game is a direct sequel to Tales of Xillia, which will release internationally in 2013. Its Japanese trailer aired during the final day of the Tokyo Game Show and contains some spoilers. According to RPGSite, a major plot point in the game will follow two brothers locked in conflict with each other.

Producer Hideo Baba has hinted at more playable characters than what's been shown, including familiar faces such as Gaius from the original title.

5: 'Mega Man Xover' for iOS impressions: it's over for Mega Man by Michael McWhertor

Gameplay is bafflingly simple. Run right. Shoot enemies. Collect power-ups. The level culminates in a battle with Storm Eagle from Mega Man X. Strangely, the fight is a turn-based battle. OVER-1 gets a single shot in, then it's Storm Eagle's turn.

OVER-1 never misses. Neither does Storm Eagle. It seems there's no way to lose this fight, as the game only demands that the player tap an onscreen button a few times to win.

1: How much did I get from my $50 investment in PS+? by MtlAngelus

IExactly one year ago, I decided that it was time to join PS+. I had been waiting for a good offer to join in, and that month they were giving away RE:DC, RE2 and RE3, all games which I intended to buy at some point, and they were also offering a 50% discount on RE4 HD, which I was also planning on buying. That came off at about $32 of total value for me right off the bat, so I figured it was worth paying $50 for a year's subscription. From my point of view, I was paying full price for the aforementioned games, and getting a Plus subscription for $18.

Tomorrow, my subscription expires, and I've decided to round up all the benefits I reaped from that subscription.

2: Diablo 3 vs Guild Wars 2 launch...battle of the bad? by savin.wangtal

While most would proclaim that D3 is an evil piece of *bleep*, and that it has horrible launch, I can't help but look at GW2 and wonder if it is any better.

The coming of the messiah, aka Guildwars2, is..not much better, yet I don't hear anyone complaining. I have to admit that I'm quite bitterly typing this while being locked out of the server (yet again). Personally, I don't mind it too horribly. I do need to clean my room, prepare for meetings, update my facebook (:D), and I can play League of Legends and TF2 while the log in is down. But it's been a couple of weeks in for ANet as well, and they're still losing a hold of their server...uh...pretty much the entire weekend?

3: Gaming PC build for under $1000 - advice? by mondeca

I've been out of the PC gaming world for a few years, and I think it's time to get back in. I haven't researched parts in a while, so I could use some advice. I'm not looking to build a top-of-the-line rig that gets more FPSes than the Joneses, but I would like to play the games the Joneses play and feel like I'm getting a good bang-for-the-buck.

I'm 75% sure I'm not going to build it myself - I'll probably order pre-built online (ibuypower.com or similar), but either way I go, I need a parts list.
