Apple's new Maps are great.

I now have navigation, which is sweet. Sure, I have to use the Live Street View app when I want Google Street View, and I have to use maps.google.com when I want Google Maps, but I'm okay with that. And it's not as if Google worked that well for me in the past.

In April I was staying at The Hilton South Wharf hotel in Melbourne (Victoria, Australia). I needed to get to Melbourne Airport nice and early to catch a plane to Paris, France.

So I asked Google for directions. Things started well:

But moments later I realised "things don't look good":

And it got worse from there:

And worse:

That's right, folks. Google's best guess for Driving Directions from Melbourne City to Melbourne Airport included over 16,000 kilometers of kayaking.

I think it's great that people are having fun finding amusing mistakes and glitches in Apple's maps. I really do. But some people seem to forget that Google's version is far from perfect.
