Help! Mobile data in iOS 6 ...
Since upgrading to iOS6 on my iPad 3 and iPhone 4S I have been experiencing insane data usage. For the iPad - I have gone through 15.5GB in the space between Friday 21st and Sunday 23rd. Luckily I get 15GB included in my monthly allowance but I still have to pay £50 for the 500MB that I went over before my data cap kicked in and prevented me from owing them thousands of pounds! On my iPhone 4S I have gone through 3GB in the same time, again hitting my cap and stopping me from being penalised by my carrier.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? I've been an iOS user since day one, I'm not a n00b and I know what I am doing. I have not done anything unusual with my settings, and to make it even more strange on Sunday, the day when my iPad apparently was the most active (according to the carrier), I was in a field in the middle of nowhere, my iPad was in my bag in a locked car and not used at all as it was raining all day and I didn't want to get it wet! There was barely any signal available as I couldn't even make a call on my iPhone so I don't understand how it is possible that I could have burned through that much data!?
Interested to hear if you have had a similar experience and also, if you dont have a data cap on your device - it might be a good idea to check just to be sure that you aren't silently getting charged a fortune by your carrier. I have never been so glad of that 500MB cap on my plan!
EDIT: Forgot to mention - When I look on my iPad it says I have only downloaded 10GB since I have owned it. Certainly not the 15GB in 3 days that the carrier is reporting. If you are worried, check with the carrier and maybe don't trust what your device says.
