FROM POLYGON
1: Press Reset Episode 2: "But will it run Crysis?" by Polygon Staff
A rare interview with the director of 1987's breakout side-scrolling brawler.
This was the era of Dragon's Lair showering arcades in quarters, thanks to laser disc-based hardware enabling games with full screen animation, and Data East had its own take on the technology. Kishimoto developed games that mixed flashy cartoon-like visuals with over-the-top action: helicopter combat in Cobra Command and car chases in Road Blaster. Neither reached Dragon's Lair's earnings, but both found loyal fans.
One of those was Data East competitor Technos, which wanted in on the laser disc business. Shortly after Road Blaster's release, Kishimoto received a call from a headhunter.
2: The man who created 'Double Dragon' by Matt Leone

3: Humble origins: The solo odyssey behind 'Dust: An Elysian Tail' by Samit Sarkar
Dust features approximately 1,700 lines of spoken dialogue spread across more than 40 characters. After a frantic crunch period, Dodrill and his audio team had finalized the dialogue on June 25th. "I had spent months animating all the portraits and polishing the dialogue code, which was one of the most complex systems in the game," Dodrill told Polygon over email. "Needless to say, I was relieved that we were done."
4: Valve adds $100 listing fee to Steam Greenlight to cut down 'noise and clutter' by Michael McWhertor
In an effort to cut back on the "significant amount of noise and clutter being submitted" to Valve's recently launched Steam Greenlight service, the company says it will now charge a one-time $100 fee when submitting a game to Greenlight.
Valve says that proceeds from Steam Greenlight submissions will be passed on to Child's Play, the charity organization that donates children's toys and games to hospitals worldwide. The initial fee will grant a Steam user access to post and update as many projects as they like, Valve says.
5: 'Code of Princess' for 3DS will have 100 local and online co-op quests by Alexa Ray Corriea
Code of Princess, touted by developer Agatsuma Entertainment as the spiritual successor to hack-and-slash role-playing game Guardian Heroes, was released in Japan in April and will come to North America on October 9th. Pre-orders for the game include the Code of Princess Sound & Visual Book, which includes game artwork and selections from its soundtrack.
FROM THE POLYNAUTS FORUMS:
1: Oh no why isn't my PC booting?!? [Resolved] by Chris Plante
Is this the end of the PC building adventure? I seriously hope not!
2: "The NextGen Depression" - does it only happen to me? by LucasReis
Does anyone else feel like I do? I know I'll probably grab those consoles at launch, but I kinda wish this generation lasted a little more. I know the ups and downs, and there are probably more downs right now, if we were to extend the generation, but I'm fine with the graphics and stuff.
3: What is your platform of choice and why? by Webgolfing
If most people are like me (and I like to think that they are), then many people mainly play games on one platform. While they may own several platforms but buy most of their games on one. Personally, I own an Xbox 360 and Windows PC but I tend to do most of my PC.
It's not because I believe PC gamers are indeed the master race and console gamers are inferior, but the benefits of the platform suits my lifestyle better.
4: "Video Game" is a Bad Name For the Medium (Also Inside: RPGs) by DocSeuss
Let's play a little game: try to define "video game" without using either word in the name as a definition. My own instinct is to say that video games are an interactive, computer-driven experience. That's about it. I almost included the word entertainment in there, but the military already has simulations, a subcategory of video games that are designed for training purpose, and we've also got educational games, not to mention flight simulators for pilot training, and stuff like that.

This is our "Official Polynauts" topic for Polygon.com requests, those which we've all made mention of in anticipation of the sites launch in 2012. I thought I'd collate them all here for the Polygon team to check back and see if the stars align with their overall plans, whatever they may be.
