Polynauts Central: (Archived 8-9/9)
Todays image is one of mine, in celebration of a mighty milestone!
We hit an important milestone this week! Sometime on Thursday, Polynauts Central passed 50,000 comments. FIFTY. THOUSAND. Soak it in. Feels good right? Just think of how far we've come...
The great exodus brought many of us over, and our man ShaunMcIlroy threw up a rudimentary Talk Amongst Yourselves thread, a wonderous place to chat, and get to know each other. It was a welcome home for us, all the long time Kotaku commenters, some of the newer guys, even some of us lurkers decided to get involved a bit more. It's true! I lurked something fierce, and recognised most of your names immediately, and was glad to see so many of you guys make the jump.
As time went on, we decided to move on from TAY, and we settled on the now familiar Polynauts Central branding for our catch all open thread. Shaun started throwing in links from around Polygon, and highlighting other cool threads in the forums for us to go populate. Polynauts Central helped us evolve as a community, and in turn, it evolved too. Comment of the Day became a regular feature, and the header pics started coming thick and fast.
During a particularly busy week for Shaun, he asked me to step in and assist for a weekend. I was happy to help, and took over the weekend thread, which has been a pleasure to help with. It also gives our poor struggling Irish flower a day off from all his hard work. This place doesn't just magically come together of a morning, it takes work to maintain, and Shauns efforts have kept this place bustling.
Our spinoff threads deserve a mention here too. Chaosbirdomaids comic and anime thread has gone down a storm, with PrinceLUDA21s movie thread picking up steam recently too. Shintas music thread is a great place to listen to some great tracks, and Paradox mes art gallery is a superb place to show off the talent you all seem to have so much of.
So join me now, in raising a glass to Shaun, and to all the other guys who keep our community going! We may bicker sometimes, and the arguments can get out of hand, but remember guys, we're all Polynauts! We gif at each other like it's going our of fashion, we can talk about 60s Spider-Man until our tongues fall out, and occasionally something special like $100 of gaming credit gets passed out by a wonderful human called LulzJager.
You know who's awesome? You guys. All of you. Keep on keepin' on, good buddies!
One more thing! We've got another code for the XBox 360 version of Modern Warfare 3s Chaos Pack! To entery this competition, just answer this (relatively) simple question about Press Reset Episode 2.
What state did Justin Glow live in before moving to DC to work on Polygon?
Shoot your answers to email@example.com and don't forget to pop your forum handle in, so we know who to congratulate! This competition will run until Sunday, September the 9th, at 23:59PDT. Go go go!
One more thing again! Those wonderful Polygon staffers have got us some Dust 514 beta codes to give away as well! Me and Shaun will be throwing up a few codes in batches over the weekend, so keep your eyes out people! Fair warning too, these may not be posted up in this particular thread, there may be clues and Polygon treasure hunting involved!
POLYNAUTS COMMENT OF THE DAY (7/9):
Every day there will only be one comment from the previous thread. It's decided based upon the most recommends an individual receives for their comment; should two people have the same rating then both comments will be posted.
Okay, there we have another days worth of catch-ups folks. Remember to sound off in the comments below and share any awesome news you find today. As always, feel free to hit Captain Irish up on Twitter @shaunmcilroy if you want to chitchat throughout the day.
New to the Polygon Community? Please take time to read the Community Guidelines as laid out by the editorial team here at The Verge. Particularly take note here: "Foul language: Cussing, swearing, or just plain nasty: all of the above are not cool here." That goes for NSFW material as well folks.
If you're a fan of the image up top and want to submit your own, remember to keep them coming in for this section of Polynauts Central, GIF's included, at this link. Finally, if you want to submit a header image for Crisis on Infinite Polygons you can do that on this thread.
