An image purporting to be of Sony's next flagship Alpha camera has sprung up online ahead of the rumored launch. The A99, an SLT (single lens translucent) camera with a full-frame sensor, appears to look very similar to the A77, its prosumer sibling that reasonably impressed us in our review. It would be the first full-frame Sony camera since 2009's A850, and the first to use the company's SLT translucent mirror system.

Sony Alpha Rumors, which claims to have confirmation of the image's validity, says that the A99 will be announced alongside the NEX-6 and a mysterious "professional" NEX camera on September 12th. The midrange NEX-6 appears to be a known quantity by this point, but there's no information available on the alleged higher-end model.
