BitTorrent Inc is still determined to bring its file sharing protocol to the masses for legitimate purposes, with the launch of its Chrome extension Surf aiming to further that goal. Surf which has been in development for the past six months allows users to search for and download torrents directly from within Chrome. The extension is designed to use search engines like Google, Yahoo!, and Bing by appending "torrent" to queries, but users also have the option to add their favorite sites. Surf even ties into the Internet Archive: entire websites and videos can be downloaded with relative ease. BitTorrent has made the alpha version of Surf available on the Chrome Web Store for people to test, and the company says that a plugin for Firefox is also on the horizon.
