I'm coming at this computer as an Astrophysicist with a 2 year old Asus EP121 that taught me what my next computer needed to be:
Long Battery life (Easily 6 hours, using an external monitor 9hr)!!!!!
Light (Less than 2lbs)
Powerful (I need to run code, X11 server, OneNote, etc. simultaneously) I need a real laptop with batter (see 1)
Digital pen for reading and working on journal articles. The S-Pen may be walcom, but the actual pen is much better than standard Wacom pens. Much more accurate on the screen. The is useless without...
A high resolution screen that is also a good size (11.6"). Turns out with this screen fonts not too small. Metro scales to make things look georgous. On the desktop Windows 8 does DPI scaling much better than Win7. At 125% you get the same size items as a 1366x768 screen with vastly improved clarity. At full resolution things are still very readable on the desktop (think e-reader size). If your eyes are find you get the real-estate of a large screen. I use a mouse on the desktop because I like to work. It helps with the small size.
And a dock. The biggest draw back of the EP121 was it could not be used as a LAPTOP. This works very well. Keys are very nice, similar to an ASUS ultra book. Looking forward to the Keyboard cover from CES2013, similar to Surface Type cover. And with up to 9hr, I don't need a battery in the dock.
