Evernote/To-Do Ideas

I've been using Evernote for a couple of years as mainly a to-do manager with mixed results. The way I've been organizing my notes doesn't seem to be working too well neither is it efficient. So I'm wondering, how do you guys use Evernote? Do you use it in conjunction with another app? Looking for all ideas!
