iOS Vs WP : What I love and What I hate
After thinking about getting Note 2 or iPhone 5 , I chose iP5 . But at the end , I got a Lumia 820 finally (Upgrading from Nokia 5800 Xpress music)
I still use my iPad 3rd gen and iPod Touch 3rd gen.
So , I am not iOS --> WP Switcher.Instead , I am adding WP into my existing devices.
What I love
First , Fresh look and feel
WP really gave a fresh look n feel and also works different . After using Symbian/iOS for so many years , I felt like I needed a change and WP has that 'change' (even though I didn't get WP for wow factor).
Second , Easy approach
One of the things i found in WP is how easy it is , for getting things done.
>>Taking pic quickly (with help of camera key) and sharing
>>Long press search button (right bottom) brings up search and it has faster approach than iOS's spotlight search of web/wikipedia
>>Mass storage
>>Live tiles for weather/clock/stocks similar to iOS's widgets and live tiles also be used for many things
>>"Me" tile , groups , "best friend/family member" tile etc. also very nicely integrated.
>>Connectivity shortcuts can be used as tiles for quick access to Wifi,BT etc.
Third , Smooth-Lag experience
When I say WP is not lagging , it doesn't mean WP is smooth.WP intelligently uses loading screen with dots travelling from right to left instead of "center circle of iOS load screen" or "Android's low frame rate/stutters".I felt that WP isn't2-3 times faster than android/iOS but those transition animations and dots animation makes the user feel as if it is lagless and smooth experience. (That's how i feel but still WP is speedy enough in day to day tasks and browsing is very very fast)
Fourth , Nokia's Touch
>>Life time Nokia Maps , Drive ....... and Offline support.
>>Free one year Nokia music.
>>Decent build quality with accessibility to remove battery , insert SD card and interchangeable back covers in case back side gets damaged.
What I Hate
No Notification center
No need to explain this , right ?
No Games
'No games' actually means WP lacks in games which i would love to play.I don't need shiny graphics or action games , I want simple games like Letterpress , Tiny Wings , Ski Safari , Hundreds etc.There are few games like Water/Perry , Angry birds , cut rope etc.
Other things :
Windows phone app lets me sync my iTunes playlists , videos from iTunes library . There is no need of Zune to use WP which is big relief since i don't want to replace iTunes.
Wrap Up :
Overall , I liked WP experience , its really great experience to use it.
