Accelerando by Charles Stross
Just about done with this book. Fantastic read.
Its the story of three generations of a family passing through the technological singularity.
Devices that connect your brain directly to the net through your optic nerves, allowing you to spin off brain processes. 3D printers that consume planets and make habitable bubbles. Bubbles full of smart matter that responds to your commands. All using the language we all use for technology today (protect your mind with some solid ACLs)
I think this would be a great read for this forum, I could use a little discussion to wrap my head around some of the concepts, but if I can help old charlie sell a few more copies, thats fine too.
