LaCie and Philippe Starck create $299 'Blade Runner' limited-edition hard drive
LaCie has teamed up with French designer Philippe Starck to create a limited-edition Blade Runner external hard drive. The Blade Runner is a 4TB hard drive that connects via USB 3.0. It's encased in an angular aluminum shell that doubles up as a heatsink. "In my design nothing is useless," says Starck, referring to the heatsink-case combo, "the warm interior electronics are encased in a mystifying shell, and the blades are the radiator that cools it down." There's no release date yet, but the Blade Runner will cost $299 when it drops, which includes 10GB of Wuala cloud storage.
