This may be a bit of a foolish query but is there no true social network integration on android?

e.g. : connecting Facebook account under settings should now add all Facebook friends to your contact list, or connecting with your twitter should add the people you're following to your contact list.

I've done both yet still haven't seen any additions to my contact list.

Mainly looking for this feature since I've kind of grown tired of seeing blank contact pictures for the majority of contacts.
