The Samsung Galaxy Chat is the entry level model in the latest set of Galaxy Phones from Samsung. It does not, however, dissapoint like some entry level phones tend to do. It runs Andriod ICS flawlessly and does an excellent job of combining touchwiz with a full QWERTY physical keyboard.
While some may criticize the 320x240 display, this low resolution does help save battery life and processing power, allthough a better screen would have been very welcome. The phone also falls short with its 2MP camera, which is not very useful.
Ultimately the flaws in this device can be blamed on the price, which is still manages to give very good value for money.
The build quality is good and this is reflected in the keyboard which is superior to an on screen keyboard and delivers very satisfying clicks.
What makes this phone unique is that it has the advantages of a physical keyboard combined with Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Although the newer blackberry phones can boast a slightly better keyboard, they do not have the massive ecosystem provided by one of the latest versions of Android.
