Surface Pro v.s. ThinkPad Tablet 2... Fight!
Hey guys, let's hash this one out.
I've currently got a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 10. I love both. I especially love the gorgeous display on the Nexus 10, however, I've realized there really isn't anything I can do on the Nexus 10 that I can't on my Nexus 4. It's not that a tablet can't be useful to me, it definitely can, I just need something offering more function to a student (digitizer pen and legacy software support is a good start).
Hence, I find myself allured to the Surface Pro and Thinkpad Tablet 2. Let's look at some Pros/Cons of each
ThinkPad Tablet 2 - $649
Pros: Windows 8 Pro in a fanless device, built-in pen, light weight
Cons: lower resolution, branding on the front of the device, intel atom with 2GB RAM
Surface Pro - $899
Pros: Ivy bridge in a tablet, Full HD screen, great hardware
Cons: battery life, heavier, pen not built in
So my Pros/Cons aren't the greatest, but ultimately what I'm getting at is that I don't really need the power of core i series in a 10" screen, thus Intel's Atom should suffice quite well. I do wish it was BayTrail and not CloverTrail since Bay-Trail will offer 64-bit support and DDR3 RAM, etc. But that's life, I would rather skip IVB and wait for Haswell than skip CloverTrail and wait for BayTrail.
What do you guys think?
