Need ideas to improve grandmas iPad

My 92 year old Grandmother was just given an iPad and I am the one chosen to help her with it.

This is not as easy as it sounds. She a mechanical engineer back in the day when that was unheard of for women at the time. She raised 8 kids and worked hard everyday. She doesn't want to touch the iPad.

I want any apps that simplify the process of family adding pictures to it. Currently they just email them to her but teaching her to check the Mail app seems like the wrong place to start having multiple panes and buttons.

Pictures (maybe a google+ or facebook album? the family could share to?)

Weather

Facetime

Siri (or google voice search)

news (flipboard?)

What are some good apps you think she might like?
