What if OEMs moved their devices to MS stores instead of retailers?
And just paid floor rents to set up their areas and highlight their products?
Yes there would need to be a ton more MS stores worldwide but at least OEMs would KNOW that their devices would be placed in the best possible light in each store with a knowledgeable staff to boot. Naturally the star of the show is Windows but there would be a vested interest between MS and the OEMS to maintain a quality experience for potential buyers.
Warranty, training, classes, demos all in house.
Wishful thinking I know. But it sounds like the way forward for the PC industry because regular retailers aren't getting the job done.
