Science fiction book awards
Since we tend to lean on science fiction (like that's a bad thing), the nominations for various science fiction and fantasy awards are starting to roll in. The Philip K Dick Awards appear to be the first, and nominations for awards like the Nebulas and Hugos probably won't be far off.

I haven't read any of the nominees listed at that link, so I can't personally vouch for them as potential choices for our monthly reads (can anyone else?). The PKDs honor books that are released straight to paperback, so the nominees for that award tend to fly under the radar, but some past winners like Nova Swing and Altered Carbon have been good reads.
