All of The Verge's adverts seem to be flash based
While I know that flash adverts have advantages, the kill user battery life and computer performance. Apple has acknowledged this and so no blocks flash that isn't displaying from playing. Click to flash plugins and the Chrome setting have made this practise common among computer users who want to eek out more power and battery life from their machines. This makes The Verge's practise of using flash advertising a bad idea. Those users that block it don't even see the adverts which costs The Verge dearly (Note: I'm in this camp, I want to support The Verge, but flash adverts are annoying). Those users that don't block it see adverts which kill there battery life and performance.
I'd like to recommend that The Verge moves to traditional HTML/CSS/JS advertising. This will benefit everyone.
