LG Optimus G Pro is a great (cheap) alternative to the Galaxy Note 3
For the last month, I had been looking to upgrade to a new phone from my old(ish) HTC One X. I wanted to upgrade to a larger phone like a Note 3, but they go for 300 on contract for AT&T or 678 off contract and even the Note 2 goes for 119 on contract. I looked around a bit and found the Optimus G Pro to more or less match all the main specs for a fraction of the cost (see table below). I also rooted my device in Windows 8 in under 5 minutes and removed some of the annoyed UI tweaks (ie qSlide apps), which is a record for me, and I'm on my 5th android phone across all four major manufacturers (LG, Motorola, HTC, and Samsung).

Overall, the Note still "out specs" the G-Pro, but I think its a great trade-off for the price, especially on contract. For 20 bucks, I'm pretty much getting Galaxy Note 2 level hardware with an upgraded camera and a better display for a fraction of the cost!
