iOS 7 Only Needs an Icon Redesign

I know this is a bit late in the arguments with the iOS7 icon, but it isn't weird to think that the reason why many people hate iOS7 is because of the icons.

A lot of us tend to judge a book by its cover, and it's hard not to, especially if the icons are designed such that one looks convex and the other looks concave. It's just messy and annoying. I think this is the only thing they have to change in order to get better reviews.

I mean, if these sets of icons greeted you every time you unlock your phone, wouldn't you feel happier?

I know iOS7 still needs:

  • Better legibility in Notification Center
  • Less whiteness for the sake of night-time operation

But the icon redesign alone is likely to be enough to make people like it again. I know this requires a change in the 'grid system'. But not many people know about it enough to care about it.

Thoughts?
