Qualcomm and nVidia need to try harder
If you want, you can go on and check out the new Anandtech review of the iPad Air. Anand gives it a great review praising especially the power and efficiency of the new A7 SOC in the Apple's new line up. He even goes as far to say:
the iPad Air is the fastest ARM based tablet on the planet
This is some very high praise especially considering any new Android tablet that might be released between now and ~April will still be on "old" 2013 CPU/GPU technology.
Qualcomm, nVidia and Samsung need to seriously step upo their game here. Although they have in the past been very close to Apple AX chips it seems like they are lagging behind. Although technically the A7 series can be considered Apples 2014 line up, perhaps the major chip makers need to bring forward their development cycle by up to 6 months to be more competitive.
I have high hopes for, say, the Snapdragon 800's successor but you have to remember there isn't actually any tablet out right now that runs it the 800.
Its coming up to the holiday season and this is when most people are likely to be "in the mood" to buy a tablet & right now the iPad Air has no competition.
