We've known that a new Mad Max film — starring Tom Hardy as the titular character — was on its way, but with the actor recently confirming that additional shooting was taking place it wasn't clear when the movie would actually be arriving in theaters. Deadline reports that a release date is now in place. Directed by George Miller — the man behind the first three films in the series — the new entrant will be released by Warner Bros. on May 15th, 2015. That will make it an even 30 years since Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome was released, and puts the film in the middle of what's one of the most crowded movie years of all time. The Avengers: Age of Ultron, the untitled Man of Steel sequel, and the rebooted Terminator are all set to be released in the summer of 2015 — and that's before Star Wars: Episode VII arrives in December. In the meantime, of course, there's always the Mad Max game scheduled to arrive next year.
