Microsoft Xbox One

I'm admittedly a huge Xbox fan. So I love the Xbox brand and mainstay franchises like Gears of War, Fable, Halo, Forza, and others. That being said, for all the potential the Xbox One has, I felt like it wasn't all there with the first 2 days using the console. I've spent most of my time on Ghosts and Battlefield 4, but have dabble in Forza 4 and Killer Instinct. I want to hit a few other launch titles, sadly it's such a huge investment that it's not going to happen for a bit. I say all of this so whoever reading this knows where I'm coming from.

Xbox One games so well. Games look great and the fact that you can back out of our game window to watch TV or mess with settings is so cool - it's the PC experience finally on consoles. Snap works pretty well, but I feel like Internet Explorer and Party apps aren't very well primed for snap modes. Sometimes the chat features or gaming with friends doesn't work at all. It CAN be frustrating. However...

When it all lands, it's awesome. I know the Xbox team are all working to bring software updates to iron out the kinks. The 360 OS was crazy good and well thought out and I can see where the One OS is going to shine bright, it just needs a little time to get there. Same with the games. The obvious monster waiting on the wings is TitanFall - Call of Duty on Battlefield-like steroids and MMORPG always-on world. I could go on to talk about a hundred different things, but I'll simplify the major aspects:

Kinect is great but needs some tweaks. Games are great but the console-movers are still en route. The controller is fantastic. Xbox Live is faster than before. Game discs don't make any sense - digital downloads are the way to go if you have a reasonable internet connection. TV integration works. Multitasking is legit. Smartglass is drastically better and so fun to use.

I love Xbox One, but I'm over the moon for what it will become. The software is a touch or two away from being untouchable. The games to end all games are nearing. I can't imagine getting this experience on any other console. This machine feels more like the future than the past. Isn't that the point?
