Tim Cook: Our Business Does Not Depend On Collectong Personal Data
This was a response from Tim Cook in regards to government request for user data, but I feel it was also a shot at Google, whose business relies solely on collecting and monetizing personal data (edit: and data in general). Apple, like Microsoft, like to paint this as a bad business practice (evil even), but I can't help but think they only take this stance because they suck at doing what Google does best.
I believe, behind closed doors, they're trying to be more like google in this regard and failing. That's why they take shots at Google. Because they want what they have and they know it provides a better user experience. As computer technology becomes more powerful and ever ubiquitous, personal data and knowing how to make sense of it will become paramount. How important, I'm interested to see.
