KitKat Launcher only for Nexus 5? Bullshit

Google has officially made it known that the Google Experience Launcher that comes with the Nexus 5 will only be fully featured for the Nexus 5. No "always-on" listening or swipe left to Google Now if it's officially released in the Play Store. But, having personally downloaded the APK and installed it on my Nexus 4, all these features work just fine. "Always-on" listening doesn't put a drain on my battery because it's only listening when your phone is unlocked and on the home screen. Swiping left to Now is a seamless transition. In other words, it works just fine on year-old hardware. Does anybody else think Google is bullshitting non-Nexus 5 owners by doing this?
