Microsoft is returning to San Francisco next year to host its BUILD developer conference. The software giant briefly revealed the dates for BUILD 2014 today, before pulling them from its news site. Microsoft will host its developer event on April 2nd through the 4th, according to the posting. Developers will be able to register for the event on January 14th at 12PM ET, and Microsoft is likely to show off its latest work across Windows, Windows Phone, and Xbox. The company is currently preparing a Windows Phone 8.1 update for release early next year, alongside similar spring updates to Windows 8.1 and Xbox One.

With the acquisition of Nokia’s phone business expected to close in early 2014, and a rumored Surface "mini" allegedly launching early next year, it could be a busy developer conference for Microsoft. The software maker released a preview of its Windows 8.1 update during BUILD 2013, alongside improvements to Bing and its developer tools. We’ve reached out to Microsoft for clarification on its BUILD 2014 dates, and we’ll update you accordingly.

Update: despite mistakenly posting details to its own website, a Microsoft spokesperson says the company "isn’t commenting at this time regarding future //build dates."

Update 2: Microsoft has now confirmed the BUILD 2014 dates.
