Is it worth upgrading 2011 15' MBP to SSD?
My MBP has been giving me problems with the hard drive lately. The Mac partition of my bootcamp setup isn't mounting, and even on Windows, Adobe Lightroom has all of a sudden been excruciatingly slow. I'm not sure if the two problems are related, but either way, I'm going to have to reformat the hard drive completely and start from scratch. However, instead of doing that, I'm considering just buying a new SSD to replace the 750gb HD I have right now.
I'm looking at this samsung SSD I found from Amazon. I'm not sure what size to get. I do use up a lot of local space, so I'm leaning towards these:
- $450 for 750gb
- $546 for 1tb
I know SSD has benefits for startup time, but my real concern is app performance, specifically for Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro 7, and windows gaming as well. I've heard conflicting information online on whether SSD's are better or worse for those apps. From everything I know about computers, I would imagine that RAM, CPU, and GPU are more important. Does anyone have experience that says otherwise?
And in a general sense, do you guys think SSD's are worth the cost? Will prices drop eventually?
