Is Windows RT still necessary?
The supposed advantages of RT are lower hardware requirements, better battery life, and lower price.
The Asus T100 runs real Windows 8 on a tiny 10" convertible with stellar 10 hour battery life. All that for less than $400. Presumably there are many other devices like it (or even better than it) coming out in the near future. All the things that RT is supposedly better for are being achieved by devices that run real Windows 8.
So basically, Windows 8 has become so good that I have no idea what anyone would need Windows RT for at this point. Is it still in Microsoft's best interest to work on these two OSs side by side or are they better off folding RT and putting all their efforts behind Windows 8?
