Retina iPad Mini Gyroscope Issues
I've had my Retina iPad Mini for a little over two weeks now, and I'll start off by saying that it is a truly amazing piece of technology, and I'm really happy about my purchase.
However, about a week ago, I noticed that the parallax effect in iOS 7 (where the background moves as you move the device) was sporadically and quickly moving all over the place whether I was moving my iPad or not. It will frequently move in arbitrary directions for seemingly no reason at all. Furthermore, the screen rotation often takes a very long time (15+ seconds) to adjust to me turning the device), and sometimes it doesn't end up rotating at all. For anyone curious about what this looks like exactly, I uploaded a minute-long video demonstrating some of the issues I've described.
What's interesting is that games and apps that use the accelerometer operate perfectly, as if there is no issue. Gameplay and functionality in movement-based apps are not affected. This leads me to believe that it is a software issue in iOS 7 instead of a hardware issue.
I have two questions for those who may be more familiar with this than I:
First, has anyone else ever heard or experienced this kind of thing on any iPad before? This is the first I've heard of anything like this, personally.
Second, do you think an iOS restore would be worth a try, or might that not help the problem? If not, I'll take it in to an Apple Store in a few weeks when I get home from college (there are no Apple Stores around where I go to school, sadly).
Thank you everyone!
Edit: I changed the title of this post from "accelerometer issues" to "gyroscope issues" to better reflect what's going on.
