Console Gaming (Xbox) vs PC Gaming (Steam) and Future Setup
Except for a few exclusive titles and hassle free gaming, the pros of PC gaming outweighs the cons of console gaming. I am getting sick of scrapping my save files, games, time, energy, money when my current gen console dies and there is no replacement out there. Even if there was, a purchase is not going to add any other benefit instead of prolonging the inevitable.
On the other hand, upgrading PC parts only make any game run better and a game from XP should work on W8. So when I am feeling nostalgic, I can grab that old Tom Clancy and have a go at it with improved performance and graphics.
I am trying to see if I can come up with a main computer + living room setup ie watch movies and games on a projector screen and do other pc stuff on the monitor screen. Though a desk in a living room would be weird, so I wonder if screen sharing and wireless displays would work?
I am considering the devices below for my main and/or portable computing - does anyone have this sort of setup?
Alienware 14 (Not so portable and bad battery life [this worries me], intended to replace Macbook Air as main computer and PS3 as gaming console)
Alienware X51 + SP / MBA / Chromebook (These will be for portability since SP and Mac would be on the high end price, the Chromebook would be a cheaper and better alternative for accessing the full web with Flash and extensions compared to Windows RT devices, unless of course Google releases Chrome into the Windows Store and MS does not kill RT in the merger with WP).
Custom Built PC + Portable options above.
