Microsoft is planning to launch Halo: Spartan Assault for the Xbox One on Christmas Eve. After launching on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 earlier this year, the Xbox One copy will debut for $14.99 as a digital download on the new console. An Xbox 360 version is also being developed, but that particular edition won’t be released until January. The Xbox One version is largely the same as the existing Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 editions, but it does include a new online co-op mode with additional missions.

If you’ve already purchased Halo: Spartan Assault on Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8 then the good news is Microsoft is providing a discount for the Xbox One version. Anyone who has bought the existing versions before December 15th will be able to pick up the Xbox One edition for $4.99. It’s not the sort of perfect bundle pricing that many are hoping Microsoft will be able to achieve across Windows, Windows Phone, and Xbox, but it’s certainly better than paying full price for each version. Halo: Spartan Assault will be available in the Xbox One games store for $14.99 on December 24th.
